This week’s episode of Cookies and Lemonade we featured an all girl cast...until our Oz Banga popped in and payed us a surprise visit! We brought back the insightful, and blunt Jade! She is one of Patchwerk’s very own Graphic Designers. We also featured one of our certified engineers Quilla. Talk about Girl Power! We will definitely be seeing more of her. Be sure to follow those two, if you already haven't, @iamjadeforest and @1laquilla and you can’t forget our Weekend Manager/ Official Man with the Plan @Obanga.

After returning from a week off, due to the monthly IdOMUSIC® Showcase last Thursday and Hurricane Irma on Monday, Thursday night’s episode of Cookies and Lemonade was full of life! My favorite thus far. Our special guest, Giark, an artist/producer/engineer from Kingston, Jamaica was so fun and gave amazing feedback! Along with Patchwerk’s very own engineer BT! Who was great. He was insightful, and gave honest and helpful advice. I think all three of us had chemistry. Come back any time Giark! (giark_digitalb). Everyone follow him and BT (b_thomas_) on Instagram.

Red Bull Music Academy wrote a descriptive article on the power of Patchwerk and their influence on the South.

During the late 90's and early 2000's Patchwerk was the nucleus of Southern Hip-Hop, providing the DNA for Atlanta's music culture. The studio continues to create a reputation for producing the highest quality mixes and mastered singles throughout the South and to the world.
Their structure was built upon having that sound that made people come back for more. The ambiance, technology, and space made it a hotbed for Hip-Hop's hit records. The biggest collaborations happened because Patchwerk was a musical home for many. Producers, artists, A&R's and engineers agreed that Patchwerk helped establish the site for some of greatest compositions in their 22 year history.
The studio went above and beyond to cater to the needs of artists and set themselves apart by providing the optimal space for emerging and mainstream artists alike. The vision set by Bob Whitfield and Curtis Daniel back in California came into fruition once they set their mind to producing music for their friend Ras Kass, who ended up being the first artist signed to their record label. Later the label developed into a studio, opening its doors to a roster of talent such as Ludacris, Lil Jon, and Outkast.

You have to mention Patchwerk when you call out the best facility in the South making an impact on the music industry. Patchwerk Recording Studios is known to record timeless music.
Jeezy, Gucci, T.I, Rick Ross, and Akon all have vested interest in the studio's longevity and legacy. Some of the best albums were recorded, mixed and mastered there.
You need proof? Come see for yourself in a FREE studio tour. The doors are open for visitors between 11am-1pm daily. It's a little bit of magic that you have to experience for yourself.

Happy Record Store Day! Itunes, CD's, Spotify, Tidal, Cassette tapes, and Vinyl are all apart of the ways we consume music in today's generation. With all these platforms out, one thing connecting them has remained constant throughout the time of its creation, Record Stores. Record stores have been around since the late 19th century, and since then they have continued to be a hub for all things music. From Country to Gospel, Record Stores got it all. No matter what year it is, Vinyl still hold a level of value that can't be defeated. A lot of people assume that artist don't put their music on Vinyl anymore; however, I'm pretty sure your favorite artist has released their project on a Vinyl as well. In my opinion, real music lovers should always hold physical copies of the albums they truly adore. Record Store day was created to pay homage to all the independently own records stores around the world. Since 2007, this day has served as a center of unity for artist, musicians, shops, and music enthusiast. With the headquaters being in the United States, since its creation, Record Store Day has spread as far as the UK. Stores create contest, special releases, and music events that promotes the holiday as a whole.

If you haven't heard, Atlanta is the Hollywood of the South. Atlanta has become a hub for all things entertainment, but more importantly, the music that derives from the city creates a musical fortress for the South. Festivals play a huge part in establishing a permanent foothold in the music industry. Atlanta has over 50 music festivals a year and being that everybody enjoys an excellent concert, it can be a great tactic for some artist to gain exposure.

The wait is finally over! Kehlani dropped her album around 11 pm on Jan. 27, and the world came to a halt. All you could see on social media was screenshots of each individual's favorite song. After two years since her last release, her fans were patiently waiting for the arrival of her first album. The wait was worth it; her fans were gifted with a story of heartbreak, growth, love, and life. It's no secret that Kehlani is just like us and goes through everyday problems and just like a real artist she exemplified her flaws in her music.

The monthly contest designed for hip hop producers and emcees took place Thursday, November 17th at the legendary Patchwerk Recording Studios. 12 emcees signed up and only a few were able to complete the task of spitting 32 bars within the 15 minute time frame. The winner of our producer portion  Kangaroo809 was the selected winner of the month beating out 12 other producers for the monthly title. This is actually Kangaroo's second time winning this year. Each emcee took a different approach and delivered heat. We want you to check out the verses and let us know who was the best out of the group. Simply leave comments below.

Rico Brooks, manager for super producers Sonny Digital and Metro Boomin stopped by Patchwerk Recording Studios to drop some knowledge on being a manager in the music industry. He spent years working his way up the rankings from being a clerk at a Greenbriar Mall Record store and working at Block Entertainment to being the CEO of Adella Thomas Management.

Although my month long free trial of Tidal just ended, I'm committed to maintaining a subscription to the premium music streaming service headed by industry favorites including Jay-Z, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Madonna and Kanye West. I will be the first to admit, I was very hesitant to literally buying into a streaming service knowing that there is so much music that's legally available online for free. Ultimately, it took the respect and love I have for the consistent genius artistry of Kanye West to give the highly publicized platform a shot once he announced that his new album, The Life of Pablo, would only be released via Tidal. Not only did TLOP live up to my expectations, I fell in love with all of the other great music I had been missing.

Being that it's been reported that Pablo's exclusive release helped double Tidal subscriptions, it's no surprise that right when the free trial period came to an end, Yeezy made multiple tweaks to his latest project including altered vocal arrangements on 'Famous', new vocals from Sia and Vic Mensa on 'Wolves', and a new track called 'Frank's Track' featuring Frank Ocean. Although other streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Rhapsody, and Google Play are all doing well, and perform in many areas better, Tidal continues to show promise as a work in progress with many powerful artists with ownership stakes. That makes room for a lot of new exclusive music and video releases, where loyal subscribers can get first dibs on spontaneous releases.
