Atlanta is in for a treat Friday, August 25th for the Red Bull Culture Clash hosted on 787 Windsor Street SW in Atlanta, Georgia. At last year's UK battle, Jamaican emcee Popcaan won the clash with a wicked dub by Drake for smash single "One Dance". This year, for the first time ever in the states, Popcaan will make his American debut on stage representing his crew Unruly. The Culture Clash, a mash up of music-makers from Jamaica, Canada, UK, and America, will feature four unique crews battling to win over an audience of avid music fans. There is sure to be some tension in the room as the top crew leaders compete for the crown. Who will conquer the crowd with the most boombastic sound?
August is a month for planning and executing the blueprint for the Fall. We are entering the last quarter of the year and as we start to take tally of our wins and losses there is an important question to answer: "What is next for me?"
Every first Thursday of the month issa a vibe in Apache Café. Call your friends and family to come out and support your city's #1 stage for poets, rappers, singers, and entertainers.
This is great opportunity to interact with industry giants, you never know who you might meet in our room of young adults and experienced creatives.
As we prepare for our contest today it is important for us to share the stories of the winners who grace our platform. This month we had a couple of milestones take place. The producer segment featured our first female producer hailing from Brooklyn, NYC who is not new to winning trophies as well as a talented emcee from Ahoskie, NC winning the contest at our first live Tight 32 performance. What I mean by live is we hosted the competition at our monthly showcase IdOMUSIC at Apache Cafe and let the audience decide the winner. Shout out to Rodrick R.O.C and Ms.Madli for representing. Check out their interviews below and come see them rock the stage at Opera Nightclub tonight!
Happy Record Store Day! Itunes, CD's, Spotify, Tidal, Cassette tapes, and Vinyl are all apart of the ways we consume music in today's generation. With all these platforms out, one thing connecting them has remained constant throughout the time of its creation, Record Stores. Record stores have been around since the late 19th century, and since then they have continued to be a hub for all things music. From Country to Gospel, Record Stores got it all. No matter what year it is, Vinyl still hold a level of value that can't be defeated. A lot of people assume that artist don't put their music on Vinyl anymore; however, I'm pretty sure your favorite artist has released their project on a Vinyl as well. In my opinion, real music lovers should always hold physical copies of the albums they truly adore. Record Store day was created to pay homage to all the independently own records stores around the world. Since 2007, this day has served as a center of unity for artist, musicians, shops, and music enthusiast. With the headquaters being in the United States, since its creation, Record Store Day has spread as far as the UK. Stores create contest, special releases, and music events that promotes the holiday as a whole.
